Love, Love, Love. That's what we've been thinking in Room A130, along with where mcgoogles went and when Ms. M is going to get some more fruity bunnies...? But I guess that's beside the point. As Izzy said below, one of the most sought after loves is puppy love. This all consuming, passion-filled madness has been the plague of parents and teens alike for centuries. It's also the most selfish of love, but I guess, according to some, that's beside the points as well. It's been long debated and long pined over. It's the theme of the most tragic, yet beautiful plays ever written, Romeo and Juliet. It is something that has been echoed in movies, plays, radio shows, and almost every media known to man.
This song truly exemplifies obsession with youth, and along with that, the puppy love. It seems like youth is this blessing no one truly knows how to use until its gone. It's this freedom, irresponsibility, lack of maturity, everything everyone wants when they don't have it. The lyrics echo, "We don't have the power, but we never say never." The lyrics talk about how they truly have no power in the big aspects of life. It was written in Europe during the Cold War, one of the battlegrounds. However, they're in between the two powers, the USA and the USSR. They have no control over the bombs. The lyrics lament, "Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Are they gonna drop the bomb or not?" It's almost like this is the draw back. They have no control. However, it's because of their lack of responsibility that allows for that freedom. It's here in this stage of life that this love occurs most often. clearly due to lack of wisdom and experience. We, the youth, haven't had the opportunity to prove ourselves and because of this think we know everything. We're bold, rash, and careless, and we can be. We don't know what true love, but we do know we want to love. This want to love causes us to find an object of affection. It's often that our first love is the greatest, and that's partly due to the fact that we're in love with being in love. Romeo is the epitome of this love of love. He goes into the party devout to Rosaline, and leaves in love with Juliet. He's pretty confused guy I guess. Nonetheless, he's puppy love. He's the faulty, dumbing, numbing, ridiculous love that is youth. Youth is fleeting. The lyrics, " Youth is like diamonds in the sun, and diamonds are forever." Unfortunately, that's just what we hope. In an instant, it'll be gone.
